Students at Tulsa's Carver Middle School cast their ballots this week. While these ones will not be counted by the election board, students told News On 6 it could make a difference in the future. Students are doing mock elections, from registering to vote to casting their ballots. The National Junior Honor Society started the process on Monday by getting students registered. Then, students got their own mock voter registration cards, which they needed to bring with them to cast their vote.

Share Parts of northeastern Oklahoma are going through one of the most severe droughts in years, leading to more burn bans. The gusty winds and dry conditions are also putting firefighters on high alert. News On 6 is learning how people are dealing with the dry conditions. Tulsa firefighters said the fire risk is high, and they have already put out five grass fires so far on Oct. 15. Plus, farmers and ranchers across Green Country are doing what they can to deal with the dry weather.

Sims and Melissa Myers both expressed that they would be honored to represent Tulsa County's GOP in this race. Both candidates stated that their top priorities if elected, would be infrastructure and public safety. News On 6 was there when Sims and Myers cast their ballots today alongside their families.

The Republican Party is also holding a runoff in the Tulsa County Commissioner District 2 race. Lonnie Sims secured 40% of the vote in June, while Melissa Myers received 31%. The Tulsa County GOP office isn't hosting a watch party tonight, but both Lonnie Sims and Melissa Myers expressed their enthusiasm about representing Republicans in this race. This afternoon, Sims, who resides in Jenks, and Myers, who lives in Sand Springs, cast their ballots alongside their families.
