PLACER COUNTY, Calif. – A Placer County bridge that is nearly 100 years old is officially closed to traffic. The Yankee Jims Replacement Project, a three-year construction project, began Monday to replace the historic Yankee Jims Bridge. The replacement project is one that Placer County officials have been eyeing for more than a decade. The current bridge is one-lane, about 11 feet wide and has a load capacity of 3-tons.

High school graduation is just around the corner, and the start of college is only a few months away. During this college acceptance cycle, one Antelope High School senior has a lot to celebrate, including her acceptance to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT’s acceptance rate is around 4.5 percent, meaning for every one hundred applicants, just four will be accepted.

(FOX40.COM) — The old Amador County Courthouse is a piece of history nestled in downtown Jackson. A local couple is looking to renovate the space and about a year and a half ago welcomed theatre nonprofit Baker Street West to their effort. The nonprofit is now in the midst of a costly renovation after moving from its previous space on Main Street. Baker Street West is a Victorian tribute to Sherlock Holmes and home to Amadaor County’s only literary society — Holmes Hounds.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Repairs are in the works for an old dining deck in Old Sacramento. On Tuesday night, the Sacramento City Council voted unanimously to spend about $3 million dollars to replace the old deck overlooking the Sacramento River of formerly the Rio City Cafe. A 2019 study deemed the 30-year-old deck unsafe after years of deteriorating due to rain, wind, and other wear and tear.
