UC Davis sports teams will have an iridescent look inspired by Lake Tahoe this fall. The A’s had every opportunity to break through and end their losing streak Saturday night against baseball’s hottest team. They failed to close the game in the ninth inning or score a run with the bases loaded and no outs in the 10th before succumbing to the Philadelphia Phillies. That loss was perhaps their most frustrating of their 11-game losing streak, which was the longest in the Major Leagues through the first two months of the season.

Of all the losses the Athletics have endured during their long losing streak, Saturday’s may have been the worst yet. The A’s took a 6-5 lead into the ninth inning, but star closer Mason Miller blew the save when he gave up a home run to Max Kepler. Then the A’s had a bases-loaded with no outs opportunity in the 10th inning with the score tied 6-6, only to come away with no runs. The Phillies, who extended baseball’s longest active winning streak to nine games, won 9-6 in 11 innings.
