The primary at Sedgeford, near Hunstanton, closed five years ago after pupil numbers plummeted. It ran out of children, because people in their 20s and 30s could no longer afford to buy a property in the leafy village, where the average house changes hands for more than £350,000 and almost half of properties are either second homes or holiday lets.

2 1/1 Fisheries officials have defended the prosecution of eight Norfolk fishermen for failing to record their catches after the skippers suggested they were being persecuted for poor paperwork. The Marine Management Organisation (MMO), which brought the case against the King's Lynn men, said its action had been "proportionate" and was necessary to ensure stocks remained sustainable.

Smithdon High School at Hunstanton is considered one of the most important modernist buildings of the 20th century. Built in 1954, it was designed by Peter and Alison Smithson, in what would become known as the "new brutalism" style. Seventy years later, the Grade II listed campus off Downs Road is in need of refurbishment, including a new heating system.
