Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse University football coach Dino Babers received what is believed to be the biggest buyout in school history when he was fired after the 2023 season. Babers received more than $8.8 million in severance pay from the school. In total, Babers was paid just over $13 million by the school in 2023, following a season in which the Orange finished 6-7 and was blown out in the Boca Raton Bowl. That amount included both his salary for coaching the team and his contract buyout.

Syracuse's Fran Brown signed with a marketing agency this offseason, a rare step for a football coach. Michael Jordan's agent suggested it, saying Brown reminded him of a legendary coach. Here's what the impact could look like for Brown and SU football. https://t.co/CwvbssSabL

Shoulda said “held” instead of “helped” but fat fingers…. Oh well.

Syracuse football helped up a pop-up BBQ tonight at the park across from Lally (Manley). Dion Wilson drew cooking duty, along with head coach Fran Brown. Locals who popped by got fed. Saw some football players pushing folks on swings. Gotta be the best push they’ve ever gotten. https://t.co/0wH5KzAAoq
