Child killed in Schenectady hit-and-run crash

An eight-year-old boy died after police said he was struck by a vehicle in Schenectady Wednesday night. According to the Schenectady Police, officers were dispatched to Crane Street and Chrisler Avenue around 7:38 PM. The child was found unresponsive and police learned that the driver of the striking vehicle left the area. The child was rushed to Ellis Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

The family tells CBS6 that Earl Albert is anxious to start his path to recovery and that he has a couple of hurdles to get through before he can be discharged to acute rehab. The news of his stroke came just days after the Albert family donated the tree to Rockefeller Center for the Christmas season.

Washington D.C. — According to the New York Times, Former Governor Andrew Cuomo has been referred to the Justice Department for potential prosecution by a Republican-led House Subcommittee, accusing him of lying to Congress about his involvement in a state COVID-19 report on nursing home deaths. The referral came a month after a federal judge tossed a lawsuit that would have held the former governor responsible for the undercounting of pandemic-era nursing home deaths in New York State.

Ulster County, NY — The first resident to contract EEE in New York State since 2015 has died, according to Governor Hochul's office. The Ulster County Department of Health has launched an investigation into the case, which was first confirmed on September 20th by the State Health Department’s Wadsworth Center. In response, State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald issued a Declaration of anImminent Threat to Public Health for EEE.
FBI investigating suspicious envelope mailed to Albany elections office

Albany, N.Y. — An envelope containing a white powdery substance was mailed to the New York State Board of Elections offices in Albany Tuesday, according to New York State Police. Around 3:00 in the afternoon, elections board employees found the mail and immediately contacted law enforcement. The envelope didn't appear to put anyone in immediate danger, and no employees reported any medical issues.
Teen arrested, accused of robbing 77-year-old woman in Albany

Albany, N.Y. — Police arrested an Albany teenager in connection with a June 6th robbery on Chesnut Street, near Dove Street. Officers responded to the area around 5:40 p.m. That's where the 77-year-old victim reported being approached by an individual who threw her to the ground & stole her purse. She was treated for her injuries on the scene. The 16-year-old was later identified by police and taken into custody in the area of Madison Avenue and Willett Street.
