WILLINGTON, CT — A recent state police "aggressive driving" detail did just what it was designed to to — catch an aggressive driver. The detail was set up on Interstate 84 on the night of April 8. At 9:26 p.m., with state police positioned in Willington near Exit 71 on the westbound side of the highway, a 2016 Cadillac Srx was caught on a laser unit going 103 mph. The Cadillac was stopped and the driver, a 223-year-old New Haven man, said he l;ost track of how fast he was going.

VERNON, CT — A Manchester man is in custody on a $500,000 bond in connection with a wintertime pursuit on Interstate 84 and two state secondary roads in Vernon that led to a police dog recovering a stolen gun, authorities said. Jaylenn Baez, 29, is due back in Rockville Superior Court on May 30, judicial system records show. On April 13, at 6:40 a.m., the Wethersfield Police Department contacted the state police Troop C barracks to say that Baez had been picked up on an outstanding warrant.

STORRS , CT — Twenty-one projects throughout Connecticut, including a statewide aquaculture initiative run through UConn, have been selected to collectively receive more than $559,625 in state funds from the state Department of Agriculture. The recipients will share the 2025 Agricultural Enhancement Grant to directly impact or foster industry viability through eligible Connecticut municipalities, regional councils of government and/or agricultural non-profit organizations.

VERNON, CT — A new drive-through coffee concept is about to open in Vernon. Opening day for 7Brew Drive Thru Coffee is set for April 28 — a Monday. Special "friends and family" hours are slated for the three days prior. It is located at the Tri-City Plaza at 35 Talcottville Road. "Everything looks good and we're excited to bring 7Brew to our hometown," said Vernon native Kiran Kapoor, who is partnering with here sister, Sharon Parmar and their husbands Manraj Parmar and Rohan Kapoor.
