NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Fisk University will discontinue its gymnastics program, the first in HBCU history, in May 2026. Fisk Athletics competes in the HBCUAC. Currently, gymnastics is not an HBCUAC-sanctioned sport, which the school says causes considerable challenges for the university to schedule competitions and build a robust recruiting pipeline. Fisk Gymnastics’ final season of competition will be Spring 2026.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Cameron Tankersley said his mom “nagged” him every year about signing up to try to qualify for the U.S. Open. The 21-year-old Dickson County native says he’s attempted to qualify “about five times.”This time, he succeeded. ”It was crazy,” said Tankersley. “It didn’t really set in until a couple of days later, talking about it with my teammates. You know, it’s just a dream come true.”Tankersley’s reality is shaping up nicely.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nine blind tandem cycling teams, each consisting of a sighted and a visually impaired rider, will hit the streets in Nashville to ride in Tour de Nash on May 17. The event, which is the largest annual fundraiser for the nonprofit Walk Bike Nashville, invites riders of all ages and backgrounds to explore the city by bike.
