It came down to a close vote among Orlando-area lacrosse coaches, but in the end, Bishop Moore's Teddy Kachris won out over three other top players for the Sentinel's Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year. Also in the running were Lake Mary seniors Jack Lorenz and Luke Shale, and Kachris' own teammate, standout freshman Charlie Smith. Kachris was the leader of a team that could have arguably been called the best in the area.

It was a very close decision, but in the end, Lake Highland Prep midfielder Savannah Love is the Sentinel's Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year, by a narrow margin over Lake Mary's Mikala Thomas. Love was the glue that held everything together for the Class 1A state champions. She scored 44 goals and had 81 draw controls and 22 ground balls. LHP coach Chris Robinson said her leadership was key. "She did a lot of the dirty work for us, all over the entire field," Robinson said.

In a surprise Thursday afternoon, Apopka High football coach Jeff Rolson stepped down. The school announced the move on X.com and Rolson confirmed this decision to the Sentinel. "It's just time," Rolson said. "The landscape has changed a little bit and I don't know that my style is conducive all the time to today's athletes. I am a little bit old-school. "With the ability for kids to just jump around and go places ... it's just not for me right now.
