Thousands of dead crustaceans have been washed up on Ardentinny beach and there’s a mystery surrounding their emergence. Earlier this week a number of local residents contacted this newspaper to report that they had noticed thousands of dead shrimp like sea creatures, which were covering large areas of Ardentinny beach. Witnesses also reported that a mass of seagulls moved in to feed on the dead crustaceans.

A drunken prank that triggered a major emergency response at a busy marina has landed a Dunoon man with community service and supervision instead of a prison sentence. Christopher Denovan, 42, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court after throwing a fake bomb onto a Marine Scotland vessel at Largs Yacht Haven in what his solicitor described as a practical joke in extremely poor taste.

Dunoon Senior Citizens Club hosted the befrienders on Wednesday, march 19, for an afternoon of music and song. entertainment was provided by Robin Miller, co-ordinator of The Befrienders, alongside Andy Crossan and the popular ‘Singing Bees’ choir, under the direction of conductor Heather Hamlet. Looking ahead, the DSCC is already preparing for a special occasion – The Befrienders’ 30th anniversary celebration, which is set to take place in April next year.

A LOCAL ex-serviceman, who has been running aid trips to Ukraine for the last three years has embarked on his last scheduled trip to the war torn country. Chris North has travelled to Ukraine almost 20 times delivering essential aid and medical supplies since the country was invaded by Russia in 2022. But now he’s calling time on his missions as its become too expensive to continue and this Sunday will mark his last scheduled trip.

The evening was an informal get together for members and families to celebrate the achievements of the group and individual players over the last year. A short award ceremony took place during whichDave de Kort received the ‘Top Note’ award not only for his singing but for the expertise and guidance he has given to the group and its members.
