An exhibit at Helensburgh's outdoor museum in Colquhoun Square HELENSBURGH’S outdoor museum is set for an £80,000 boost after funding was agreed to be allocated in principle. A councillor called for more artworks to be secured for the Colquhoun Square museum after it was one of a number of projects agreed to receive nearly £500,000 of Scottish Government place-based investment funding.

Rest and Be Thankful and Arrochar works revealed in report (Image: Forestry and Land) THE Rest and Be Thankful stretch of the A83 has “a number of road closures” planned for the next two months, a report has revealed. A Transport Scotland official has also advised that roadworks with temporary lights are set for Arrochar over a six-week period. Further details have also been published of works at other parts of the A83, including at Loch Shira and Glen Kinglas.

Statistics have been revealed on violent incidents in schools (Image: Newsquest) NEARLY 3,000 violent incidents have been recorded in Argyll and Bute schools during the last seven academic years, research has revealed. Data published by the Scottish Liberal Democrats stated that 2,285 such incidents had been recorded in the area’s primary schools between 2018/19 and 2024/25 up to February 7.

UNISON announced recently that it intended to ballot more than 80,000 workers across all 32 Scottish council areas in a dispute over pay. Local government employer body COSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities) has offered all council workers in Scotland a three per cent increase for 2025/26. COSLA and Argyll and Bute Council have previously said that they hope that strike action can be avoided.

The premises at 38-40 Sinclair Street (Image: Google Street View) PLANS have been lodged for fabric repairs to take place at a Helensburgh town centre premises, including works to its roof and stone exterior. Bruce and Nicola Jamieson have lodged the proposal with Argyll and Bute Council for planning permission and listed building consent at the former Conservative Club at 38-40 Sinclair Street.
