    SPRINGFIELD, Mo–After a one day delay because of wet field conditions and rain, the Missouri State High School softball championships are underway. This is the final four for the spring season. And in Class 2, the Ava Bears battled the Warsaw Wildcats. Warsaw’s won 22 games this season, 14 of them were shutouts. And Wildcat pitcher, Brylee Brewster dialed up another one. The senior hurler held the Bears to just one hit, while striking out 17 batters.

    NIXA–This week’s Athlete of the Week in Noah Naugle. Naugle, is a senior on the Nixa High School boys golf team. Last week, Naugle finished 7th overall at the Class 5 State Tournament, thanks to firing a final round score of 5-under-par. It was the second straight season the Missouri State commit medaled at state and remains the only golfer in school history to do so. Do you have an Athlete of the Week nomination?     SPRINGFIELD–The No. 5-seed Joplin Eagles scored three runs in the top of the 1st, and that was all it needed, to stun No. 2-seed Nixa, 3-1, to win the Class 6 District 6 title, on Saturday. It’s the first time Joplin won the district tournament since the spring of 2009. The Eagles were led by right-handed pitcher, Landry Wilson, who earned the win with an impressive complete game performance. It was just the fifth time this season Nixa’s offense was limited to just a one-run or fewer.
