Jason Codey tossed six no-hit innings, finishing with a complete game four-hitter as the Generals completed a regular season sweep of Westfield, 6-3, Wednesday at Bullens Field. AGAWAM – The Westfield High School boys volleyball team hit a major roadblock just off Route 57 in Agawam on Tuesday evening. For the second time this season, Westfield fell to Agawam in a boys volleyball match. The Brownies won in three straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16, to sweep the season series, 2-0. “They’re extremely tough to beat because they control the ball well and we just did not play clean enough tonight to take them down,” Westfield boys volleyball coach Tyler Wingate said.

HARTFORD, CONN. – The last time Westfield native Jackie Smith came home to the Whip City, it was as the head coach of the Connecticut College women’s basketball team as her Colonials battled the Westfield State Owls. Now, five years later, Smith is preparing for another homecoming of sorts as she returns to coach the college team she once played for. Smith was named the 12th head coach of the University of Hartford women’s basketball team, the school announced Friday.
