They’re hosting the inaugural Jay Pharoah Fine Arts Scholarship Awards. Ramona and Shaina Pharoah are the president and vice president of the foundation and they joined us to share more about the Phoundation and the awards banquet.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The spring red drum season is underway for fishermen on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. While many drum fishermen catch sharks white drum fishing, some fishermen target sharks. Recently, friends Luke Beard, Jason Rosenfeld and Dan Rothermel hooked up, landed and released a great white shark while fishing at the Cape Point at Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Earlier this month, they sent notice to the state that chess champions live in the 757 by winning five state championships. The state championships will return to Hampton Roads in 2027. PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – For the past 54 years, the running of the Shamrock Marathon has become a St. Patrick’s Day tradition in Virginia Beach, but it’s much more than a marathon. The race with the most energy and spirit though, is the Operation Smile Final Mile. Nearly 5,000 elementary school students have been running for weeks after school to prepare, and this past Saturday they completed their final marathon mile … together!
