(WVUE) - A Southwest Airlines flight carrying at least two New Orleans families was forced to make an emergency landing in Houston on Thursday (April 17) after the plane experienced engine trouble shortly after takeoff. Passenger Michael Weber, a New Orleans native, said the right engine made a loud boom just after the plane’s wheels went up. “The whole plane began shaking,” Weber said. He was flying with his family and another New Orleans couple to Mexico when the incident occurred.

WESTWEGO, La. (WVUE) - The scales are in overdrive at the Westwego Shrimp Lot as customers bring ice chest after ice chest to fill up with fresh seafood. “Got a Better selection. Bucktown is pretty good and it’s close to my house, but I’ve been coming out here a long time. They just seem to have a little fresher seafood, have a big volume of it too,” said Mike Sullivan, who travelled to Westwego from Lakeview.

Situated between Ames and Barataria boulevards, survey markers line a field where property owner Thomas Delahaye wants to build “Reserve at Lapalco Place,” a 144-unit apartment complex. Delahaye says the complex would offer “luxury finishes” and that rent would be based on income.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Two men are facing second-degree murder charges in the Uptown shooting that police say killed a U.S. Army servicemember and injured another man over the weekend. According to court records, Julian Vicknair, 18, and Harry Darby, 19, each was booked with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. An Orleans Parish Magistrate commissioner set their bonds Tuesday (April 8) at $1.5 million each.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Two men are facing second-degree murder charges in the Uptown shooting that police say killed a U.S. Army servicemember and injured another man over the weekend. According to court records, Julian Vicknair and Harry Darby have both been booked with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. They are accused in the death of 20-year-old Colby Scheffler, a Chalmette High School graduate who was actively serving in the U.S. Army.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Friends are remembering 20-year-old Colby Scheffler, a US soldier shot and killed early Sunday (April 6) in the heart of Uptown New Orleans. Scheffler was fatally shot inside a vehicle shortly before 3 a.m., in the 7700 block of Willow Street, according to the NOPD. Friends provided photos of Scheffler smiling with a large group of friends, and again at his graduation from Chalmette High School. Shortly after receiving his diploma, Scheffler enlisted with the US Army.

Construction equipment is in place on Hessmer Avenue as crews prepare to drive piles for Oracle Lighting’s new 15,000-square-foot showroom. NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - FOX 8 uncovers new details about the suspects arrested in the death of Kansas City sports reporter Adan Manzano. Manzano was in New Orleans covering the Super Bowl when he was found dead in a hotel room. St. Tammany Parish court documents show Danette Colbert and Rickey White once lived at the same address in Slidell. Deputies investigated their home for a domestic dispute in February last year. The initial report shows Colbert was bruised, but refused treatment.
