(WVUE) - A Southwest Airlines flight carrying at least two New Orleans families was forced to make an emergency landing in Houston on Thursday (April 17) after the plane experienced engine trouble shortly after takeoff. Passenger Michael Weber, a New Orleans native, said the right engine made a loud boom just after the plane’s wheels went up. “The whole plane began shaking,” Weber said. He was flying with his family and another New Orleans couple to Mexico when the incident occurred.

WESTWEGO, La. (WVUE) - The scales are in overdrive at the Westwego Shrimp Lot as customers bring ice chest after ice chest to fill up with fresh seafood. “Got a Better selection. Bucktown is pretty good and it’s close to my house, but I’ve been coming out here a long time. They just seem to have a little fresher seafood, have a big volume of it too,” said Mike Sullivan, who travelled to Westwego from Lakeview.

MARRERO, La. (WVUE) - The Jefferson Parish Council on Wednesday (April 9) denied construction of a planned Marrero apartment complex. Situated between Ames and Barataria boulevards, survey markers line a field where property owner Thomas Delahaye wants to build “Reserve at Lapalco Place,” a 144-unit apartment complex. Delahaye says the complex would offer “luxury finishes” and that rent would be based on income.
