    CEDARBURG — A court in Eau Claire County has imposed two $25,000 fines against a Cedarburg developer and owner of the Amcast site after failing to show progress in remediation at a landfill site after a year. Riley Fiontar LLC, which is owned by DJ Burns, was accused by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources of negligently discharging stormwater and polluting Sixmile Creek at the former Plainwell Tissue landfill located at 7380 Highway 12 in the town of Washington.

    PILSEN, Czech Republic — Eighty years after his father and uncle helped liberate Pilsen of Czechoslovakia from Nazi rule on May 6, 1945, Cedarburg resident Allen Buchholz and his family took part in the city’s Liberation Festival. Buchholz, his wife Cheri and his cousin Steve of Genoa, Ill., were formally invited along with 80 other Americans by the mayor of Pilsen in what is now the Czech Republic to attend the celebration that took place from May 2 to May 7.

    MEQUON — A caretaker at a Mequon assisted living facility is being charged with reckless homicide after allegedly pushing an elderly woman to the ground. Abrianna Clark, 27, of Milwaukee is facing one count of second-degree reckless homicide, increased penalty for an elder person victim, in the Ozaukee County Circuit Court. According to the criminal complaint against Clark, a Mequon officer was dispatched to StoryPoint Mequon on Nov.
