CEDARBURG — Though the Cedarburg Plan Commission has yet to officially make a recommendation, the mayor and the three other commissioners said they do not want apartments at the site on highways 60 and I. The Plan Commission directed City Planner Mary Censky to create a new land use classification for Smart Growth Area 11 that would be a mixed use of commercial and/or high-medium density residential. SGA 11 is located on the southeast corner of Highway 60 and Sheboygan Road.

CEDARBURG — Officials from the city and town of Cedarburg met during a city Plan Commission meeting Monday to review a traffic and access planning study for along Highway 60. The city of Cedarburg is currently working on updating its Comprehensive Plan Smart Growth Land Use Plan, and it was determined that the city should gather an analysis for traffic/transportation implications. The study, conducted by raSmith, was jointly commissioned by the city and town.

CEDARBURG — New owners Christine and Jeff McLean of the Washington House Inn see themselves as stewards continuing to preserve the history of the inn and maintaining its legacy in the community. The Mequon couple purchased the boutique hotel, which includes three buildings and the historic Schroeder House, from Jim Pape and his business partners in December last year.

CEDARBURG — Building a combined public safety building in the city of Cedarburg could prove to be costly, according to an initial report of a space needs analysis. The Cedarburg Common Council received an update last week on where FGM Architects is at with its space needs analysis and a 10-year plan of current and anticipated deferred maintenance for the fire and police department facilities from Kraus-Anderson Construction.
Incumbents Charland and Stroebel reelected, Demczak wins

CEDARBURG — Incumbents Elizabeth Charland and Laura Stroebel will retain their seats on the Cedarburg School Board and Paul Demczak will join them following Tuesday’s election results. Three seats were on the ballot. Current board member David Krier did not seek another term. While the incumbent Stroebel had a large lead, it was a little closer with Charland and Demczak against challengers Heidi Laurila, Brooke Justinger and Gina Tozer.
Kristian Lindo wins by five votes

CEDARBURG — In a very tight race, incumbent Kristian Lindo will keep his seat on the Cedarburg Common Council as alderman for District 6. Lindo defeated challenger Denver Dalley by five votes, receiving 358 votes, or 50.21% of the votes. Dalley received 352 votes, or 49.37%. There were three write-in votes, or 0.42% of the votes in the District 6 race. A total of 713 votes were cast in this race. As of Wednesday afternoon, Dalley has not asked for a recount of the votes.
Former Milwaukee Ale House Grafton to reopen as 13 North on Monday

GRAFTON — After 14 years in Grafton, the Milwaukee Ale House is reopening as 13 North from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the same location, 1208 13th Ave. The restaurant will retain its causal energy while introducing an upscale-casual dining experience, according to a 13 North press release. Owners Mike Stoner and Duffy O’Neil of the former Milwaukee Ale House Grafton will remain at the helm, with O’Neil leading the kitchen and Stoner overseeing front-of-house operations.

Ozaukee County sales tax revenue surpasses $12 million

OZAUKEE COUNTY — Ozaukee County’s tax revenue continues to exceed expectations with 2024 totaling over $522,436 what was budgeted for the year. December 2024 collected nearly $1.06 million, bringing the total collection of the year to almost $12.2 million. This is a 4% increase, or $469,380, over 2023, according to a report from Finance Director Jay McMahon. The county sales tax revenue was very close to the 2024 budgeted amount by November after over $1.28 million was collected that month.
