Louisville and several other communities across our area range from over an inch of rain below normal this month. In fact, Louisville recently went 10 straight days without rainfall. However, the Almanac predicted a colder than average and snowy winter for 2023-2024's season. As we know, it went on to be the warmest winter on record with well below average snowfall. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season kicked off on June 1 and will go until November 30. The has forecasted an 80% chance of this year being an above-normal season with 17-25 named storms. Out of those storms, 4-7 are predicted to become major hurricanes (category 3+). As always, the names for the storm season are chosen in advance and will go in alphabetical order.

In fact, we have had more severe weather outbreaks than normal this year in the nation, and locally. How does the number we’ve had in the viewing area compare/contrast to other seasons? LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The month of May is certainly living up to its reputation as Kentucky and Indiana's wettest month. Memorial Day weekend plans will likely be disrupted by occasional showers and thunderstorms, especially on Sunday. Saturday will be the warmest day of the holiday weekend with highs reaching for the middle 80s. Most of the day will stay dry and partly cloudy locally. However, if you are traveling east be prepared for pop-up thunderstorms through the afternoon.
