A number of people were charged Tuesday after officers serving a search warrant in Allentown were assaulted, according to authorities. Anthony George Fata, 22, was wanted for allegedly using a handgun to threaten someone earlier in the month in the 200 block of North Eighth Street, according to city police. Officers found him Tuesday evening in that same area, and he fled into a nearby home when they approached him, the release states.

Crystal Robinson remembered coming back to her Bethlehem home one day in April 2018 to find a number of city police officers there. The responding officers asked her if she could identify any tattoos that her grandson, Tyrell Holmes, had. She told them he had a tattoo of Mother Mary on his arm. At that point, officers told her that Holmes, 18, had been killed.

A cold front is expected to drop temperatures Thursday in the Lehigh Valley after days of dangerous, record-breaking heat. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey, said the region will see “modest relief” as the cold front moves in to the area. A high of 86 is expected Thursday, which is roughly 10 degrees cooler than what was recorded Wednesday. Additionally, showers and storms are in the forecast through Tuesday.

The American Parkway bridge in Allentown is closed Thursday morning while police investigate a crash. City police posted on social media about 7:45 a.m. that the bridge is closed in both directions between Front Street and Irving Street. Drivers will be rerouted from the area. The dayslong stretch of “dangerous heat” is expected to end Wednesday before rain and cooler temperatures come to the Lehigh Valley. Temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler Wednesday than the previous two days, but forecasters are expecting it to still feel over 100 with the humidity. This follows two days of record-breaking heat, where temperatures soared to nearly 100, with even higher heat index values.
