Enterococcus is bacteria commonly found in the intestines of humans and animals and are often used as indicators of water contamination, particularly by fecal matter.

A fuel truck caught fire at East Hampton Airport during a safety test on Thursday, briefly closing the airport. At around 2 p.m. the truck, operated by Sound Aircraft Services, caught fire during what was described in a statement from Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez's office as a routine annual meter inspection by New York State Weights and Measures technicians, and involved the transfer of 100-octane aviation gasoline between internal tanks on the truck.

The East Hampton Village branch of M&T Bank at 99 Newtown Lane will close permanently next Thursday at 4 p.m. The bank’s branches at 351 Pantigo Road in East Hampton and 746 Montauk Highway in Montauk will remain open. M&T Bank, founded in 1856 as Manufacturers and Traders Bank, has notified customers of the imminent closing by email and with signs at the branch.
