Long Island Press

Long Island Press

The Long Island Press is a free, independent online news magazine that provides comprehensive coverage of local and national stories, arts and entertainment, sports, and diverse political perspectives. You can read it daily at www.LongIslandPress.com. Often referred to as "L.I.'s Cultural Arts and Investigative News Journal," this publication was established in 2003 when Morey Publishing acquired The Island Ear, a free bi-monthly entertainment newspaper. They decided to keep the name of a daily newspaper that had closed in 1977 and transformed it into a free alternative newsweekly. Notable contributors to the Press have included former Newsday columnist Ed Lowe, television columnist Todd Hyman, and technology writer Lazlow. After operating as an alternative newsweekly for ten years, the publication transitioned to its current online monthly format starting January 1, 2013.
