ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Lizzie Whitcher is the floral designer at Biltmore, and the house is all set for Christmas at Biltmore. Many visitors have expressed how calming the decorated house is this year because of the unsettled weather. Hurricane Helene certainly changed the landscape with trees uprooted like so many others experienced. The inside of the home is just as beautiful as ever. Whitcher’s favorites include the vestibule, the library, the dining hall and the billiard room.

CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) – Farmers and ranchers are still assessing the damage from Hurricane Helene. While crops like corn had mostly been harvested, other crops like peanuts and cotton had already been stressed from earlier rains from Tropical Storm Debby and a drought before that. Clemson University developed a website where farmers and ranchers can report damage from the storm and attach pictures and videos to show what happened.

(WSPA) – Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and with very warm waters as well as La Nina conditions expected to develop, an above-average season seems to be on the way. If any systems look to threaten our coastline, the Hurricane Hunters will be ready to go with numerous flights through the storm to gather important data. This data is critical because it’s fed to the National Hurricane Center and the computer models they use to help make the forecast that’s shown.

(WSPA) – Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 and it’s once expected to be an active one. Despite the amount of activity, it only takes one to make it a bad season if it causes damage, and the Hurricane Hunters play a key role in investigating what’s going on inside these systems as they’re developing. The C-130 and NOAA P-3 aircraft are packed with instruments and loaded with thousands of pounds of fuel to complete missions that could last 10 hours in flight.

(WSPA) – Spring rains can help a waterfall to roar! The amount of water influences the sound, volume and look of the falls. A high-flow waterfall ushers through at least 200 gallons per hour per inch of spillway. There are 4 waterfalls in the corridor of falls at Dupont State Recreational Forest; you can check them all out free of charge! Visitors are urged to heed warnings and obey rules as emergencies can be commonplace when people insist on climbing the slick rocks around the water.
