A Fife nurse blamed Filipino “culture” for a video that showed him indecently touching a young child. Mark Rebustes was snared with dozens of images and files of child abuse on a laptop he brought to Fife from the Philippines. During his trial, the 40-year-old claimed the indecent video in which he featured was “normal” in his homeland.

A binman who stabbed a rival in the stomach in Kinross-shire on a Monday morning has been jailed. Blood poured from the torso of Gary Black’s victim, who said, “you f*****g stabbed me” after being attacked on a street in Milnathort. The pair had discussed fighting after becoming embroiled in an online argument over claims Black sent unwanted messages to his victim’s niece. Black, 30, is now behind bars having previously admitting leaving the man permanently disfigured with the six-inch blade.

A paedophile from Dundee caught sending sexual messages to what he thought was an underage girl has been jailed. Repeat sex offender Stephen Capon was snared by a vigilante group who confronted him at his Dundee home. The 49-year-old was caught sending vile WhatsApp messages and voice notes to a child, who was actually an adult from Scotland’s Child Protection Team.

A “terrified” woman feared she would be killed at the hands of her ex-partner during a vicious attack at her Dundee home. Kevin Ogg armed himself with a glass bottle before using it to attack the woman while she lay in the hallway on September 19 last year. The 46-year-old is now facing an extended prison sentence after a sheriff slated his history of violent offending. Dundee Sheriff Court heard how the woman had previously been Ogg’s support worker, prior to becoming involved in a relationship.

A brazen thief took a car and a motorcycle for test drives, before speeding off from the sellers. Connor Davidson later led police on a dangerous chase through a Fife caravan park before he was eventually brought to justice. The 23-year-old is now facing a “significant” jail term after he admitted a 12-charge crime wave committed between January and February this year in Dundee, Perth, Stirling and Fife.
