    A delivery driver has appeared in court accused of carrying out sexual assaults on two teenage girls in Torry over the weekend. Fidelis Amu appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday, facing four charges. The 26-year-old, whose general address was given as Aberdeen, was charged with sexual assault. He also faces a second charge of indecently communicating with another person – electronically or verbally – and then sexually assaulting them.

    The cream of the crop among north-east restaurants and chefs were celebrated at a prestigious awards ceremony in Aberdeen last night. Winners in six categories of the North East of Scotland Chef and Restaurant of the Year competition were unveiled at The Marcliffe Hotel. It followed an exciting cook-off, judged by some of Scotland’s top chefs, at North East Scotland College (Nescol). The restaurant of the year title went to The Udny Arms Hotel, near Newburgh.

    An investigation has been launched into a bus crash on the A96, which injured three people last week. The emergency services were called to collision between a van and bus near Elgin on Tuesday May 20 where a trio had to be taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital. The road between Alves and Elgin was then closed for over six hours, with a Stagecoach bus involved. Four fire engines with “specialist resources” were also sent as they worked to clear the scene.

    An Aberdeen man has thanked vets after they saved his dog Rocco’s life after swallowing a ball. Ray Howell made a frantic dash to an Aberdeenshire clinic to save his rescue dog’s life. Rocco, who is a rescue taken in after suffering abuse at his previous home, was playing in the garden when he accidentally swallowed his favourite toy. The three-year-old Doberman was struggling to breathe and already slipping into unconsciousness when he arrived at Mintlaw Vets.
