CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - For the third time since 2023, the Baymont Inn is getting new management after the organization HELP Program announced it will end their housing program at the former hotel on Wednesday. The organization told WBTV they are closing operations at the Baymont Inn due to “public safety challenges, including drug activity, gun violence, and security threats occurring on and near the property.”The former Charlotte hotel changed hands multiple times between 2023 and 2025.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - While Senate Bill 50 awaits a decision from North Carolina Governor Josh Stein, stakeholders from both sides weighed in on their thoughts on the bill that would remove the permit requirement for concealed carry gunowners and lower the age of eligibility from 21 to 18 years old. The lowering of the age sparked a debate. Hyatt Gun Shop Owner Larry Hyatt said he does not think the bill will change how some people behave. “They don’t care what the law is,” said Hyatt.

(WBTV) - A 70-year-old prostate cancer survivor dedicated his retirement to helping men living with prostate cancer find a support system by sitting outside an elevator at a Urology Center in Charlotte. “Nobody talks about prostate cancer. Men don’t want to talk about it. Why? I don’t know. But they don’t,” said Prostate Cancer Survivor and ERLEADA patient Bob Lane. Lane was one of tens of thousands of men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.

(WBTV) - Following weeks of trying to get answers about what happened to their principal, parents of students at Ardrey Kell High School in Ballentyne were given a “Principal Profile Feedback Survey” to fill out in a matter of days. For weeks, there has been much fallout from the Ardrey Kell community after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) suspended a principal with pay who had no disciplinary record.
