On Monday, a 17-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle at the location and remains hospitalised in a critical condition. The state government says $3 million has been committed to upgrading the site, with construction to begin in 2026, but locals say for a long time they've "worried something bad was going to happen" and now it has.
