    Nancy Parrish is the former chair of the Ringling Museum Foundation. But years before that, she was a St. Petersburg kid who loved visiting the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota with her family. “As kids, we used to climb those banyan trees before there was security around,” Parrish said. “It's really part of our growing up.”Parrish said this nostalgic sentiment toward the museum is something she shares with many in the greater Tampa Bay region.

    USF will start a multi-phase effort this fall to construct a new Veterans, Military Families & First Responders Service Complex at the Tampa campus. The complex was a part of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ state budget for the next fiscal year signed on June 12. DeSantis approved $10 million in funding for facility updates for student veterans, military families and first responders on all three USF campuses.

    For around 30 years, USF had an arts and crafts center where students gathered to make pottery, jewelry, ceramics, drawings, paintings and other artwork — it was called the Craft Shop. Issues with facilities for USF’s ceramics club, Lil’ Muddy’s Fun Bunch, led Student Government (SG) to look into reinstating the Craft Shop last year.

    Students and supporters are calling for charges to be dropped against the “USF 13,” who were arrested in a pair of on-campus protests at the end of April. However, Erin Maloney, communications director for the state attorney, said it’s not that easy. “When people talk about asking for reduced charges, that’s kind of just not the way it works,” Maloney said.

    Lil’ Muddy’s Fun Bunch, the only ceramics club at the USF Tampa campus, has been around since the 90s. However, a turn of events at the end of the spring semester threatened the club’s existence. Kailey Geu, Lil Muddy’s president, said that Chuck McGee, the club’s advisor, announced in the semester’s final meeting that the club would no longer be allowed to use USF’s ceramics facilities due to a “space issue.”The problem?
