    Members of Copper Country Robotics (CCR) had to think and act fast, as the scenario and specifications for  this year's FIRST Robotics Competition were revealed on Jan. 4 and the countdown began. Robotics teams at high schools and colleges around the world tuned in to the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition kickoff announcement via a global telecast. More than 20 CCR members returned to Tech's snow-laden campus two days before the University's spring 2025 semester began to watch the challenge reveal.

    Apply now for the spring 2025 Michigan Tech Faculty DC Trip, happening the week of May 4. This trip has a long-standing tradition of connecting researchers to funding agencies and other collaboration opportunities in the nation’s capital city. This spring, the trip will have a health-related research focus. Health is broadly defined. Even if you don’t think you do health-related research, you are welcome to apply and join the trip.

    Gustavo Bejar-Lopez was just 30 days old when his parents brought him to visit Tungurahua, a volcano in his home country of Ecuador. He remembers watching Tungurahua erupting a few years later. His hometown, Guayaquil, was shielded from the direct hazards of volcanic eruptions, but larger eruptions from Tungurahua or nearby Sangay Volcano routinely led to ashfall across the city.

    In a milestone in space construction technology, Michigan Tech's Planetary Surface Technology Development Lab (PSTDL) partnered with SpaceFactory to successfully build and test the first lunar road in a simulated space environment, replicating the dusty vacuum conditions of the moon. Both Tech's PSTDL and SpaceFactory have a history of breaking barriers in the space industry. The PSTDL, also known as HuskyWorks, focuses on advancing technologies for planetary exploration and construction.

    The MLK Planning Committee is excited to announce the 36th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Michigan Technological University! As part of this celebration, we will be hosting the MLK Banquet on Jan. 20 to celebrate King's life and legacy. Due to overwhelming positive responses from the campus community, we are anticipating more of our Husky family attending this year's celebration.
