The Jackson Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is excited to begin another year of the Deans’ Teaching Showcase, featuring outstanding instructors from across campus. This week, College of Sciences and Arts Dean LaReesa Wolfenbarger has selected Oren Abeles, an assistant professor of rhetoric and composition in the Department of Humanities. Abeles will also be recognized at an end-of-term event with other showcase members and is a candidate for the CTL Instructional Award Series.

The MLK Planning Committee is excited to announce the 36th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Michigan Technological University! As part of this celebration, we will be hosting the MLK Banquet on Jan. 20 to celebrate King's life and legacy. Due to overwhelming positive responses from the campus community, we are anticipating more of our Husky family attending this year's celebration.

by Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Team Michigan Tech, led by Assistant Professor Shangyan Zou and Professor Wayne Weaver, has just been announced as a Concept Phase winner of the DOE Power at Sea Prize. Out of 86 submissions, 20 teams were selected, and each will be awarded $10,000. The team will compete in the Development Phase that concludes in summer 2025.

Please join the Department of Physics for a seminar with Siegfried Hoefinger today, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. in Fisher 101. Hoefinger is presenting a seminar titled "Antiviral Drugs and Open Challenges in Biophysical Simulations." From the abstract:A recent study has confirmed the antiviral activity of the synthetic peptide TAT-I24 against a broad class of double-stranded DNA viruses, for example, herpes simplex, cytomegalovirus, some adenoviruses, vaccinia virus and SV40 polyomavirus.

The Michigan Tech volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with a victory and a sweep. The Huskies defeated Saginaw Valley State 3-1 on Friday, Nov. 15, at Hamilton Gym. Tech won 25-20, 19-25, 25-21 and 25-18. “Winning on the road late in the season isn’t easy in this league,” Tech coach Matt Jennings said. “I’m glad we got it done here tonight, and I thought we played well for most of the match.
