Bonneville County man sentenced for possessing child porn

A 23-year-old Bonneville County man, Seth Tanaka, was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison with a rider for possessing child pornography. According to a press release from the Idaho Attorney General’s office, Judge Michael Whyte retained jurisdiction over the case for up to one year, which is known as a rider.

Rep. Wendy Horman, R-Idaho Falls, and Sen. Dave Lent, R-Idaho Falls, spoke to the Idaho Falls City Club Monday, speaking on this past year’s legislative session and what is to come. The event was moderated by Liza Leonard, vice president of the City Club board of directors. Audience members asked questions by writing them on note cards. “This year’s Legislative session was very active,” Leonard said.
Idaho Falls man sentenced to more than 11 years for selling fentanyl

A 36-year-old man from Idaho Falls has been sentenced to 135 months in federal prison for possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute, according to a press release. According to the release, Andrew Clifford Meyer’s case dates back to August of 2023. Officers contacted Meyer in the Fort Hall Casino parking lot after receiving reports of a fight. Officers located Meyer’s car and observed fentanyl pills through a window.
Idaho Falls community members gather for National Day of Prayer event

Local faith leaders, government officials and several high schoolers gathered for a National Day of Prayer event in Idaho Falls Thursday, sponsored by the Regional Council for Christian Ministry. National Day of Prayer is an annual observance inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

On Saturday, local LGBTQIA+ residents plan to colorfully gather, not in protest or confrontation but to simply exist at the Idaho Falls Farmer's Market, according to a press release. “We’re showing up in our favorite pride and rainbow outfits to remind our community that we’re here — we live here, we work here, we shop at the same market. We’re part of the Idaho Falls community,” Gabby Morales, the lead organizer of a local queer-focused social group, said in the release.

INL signs collaborative research agreement with Utah

This is the first memorandum of understanding (MOU) of this kind INL has made with Utah, according to officials. “The short answer is it's a novel and unique MOU,” Laura Nelson, INL’s regional engagement lead, said in a meeting with the Post Register Tuesday.
