    LUBBOCK, Texas— The Texas Tech offense will feature one of the top-ranked wide receivers out of the transfer portal this fall. Miami-Ohio transfer Reggie Virgil announced his commitment to Texas Tech in December. In his Junior season with the Redhawks, Virgil led the team with over 800 receiving yards and finished tied for third in the Mid-American Conference with nine touchdowns. “He can flat out fly,” said head coach Joey McGuire.

    LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech women’s track and field thrower Amori Pierson added her name atop the Red Raiders’ record books on March 29 at the Texas Relays, throwing a program-best 17.84 meters in the shot put. Pierson broke the top mark of 17.80 meters previously held by Kayli Johnson, who the Big 12 Women’s Outdoor Championship in the event in 2022. “When stuff gets hard, I don’t really run away from it,” Pierson said.

The 340,000-square-foot building holds just about anything a college athlete could ask for, including an expansive weight room, hydrotherapy pools, the state-of-the-art Patrick Mahomes walk-through room and even a barbershop. “The most important thing in this building are our players, and everybody’s here to make them the best version of themselves,” said head coach Joey McGuire.

    LUBBOCK, Texas — No. 8 Texas Tech closed out the University of Texas Tournament with an 11-0 loss to top-ranked Texas on Sunday. Just one day after tossing the fifth perfect game in program history, freshman pitcher Samantha Lincoln failed to record an out against the Longhorns. Texas (11-0) scored four runs in the first inning, followed by a three-run home run in the third by Katie Stewart, who drove in five runs in the game.
