This article first appeared in print on October 2023 in the Chimes Magazine Vol. 3, Issue 1 edition. Diego Preciado’s journey to Biola began with his graduation from Stanford University. He started his first year on the football team there in 2019, making the Pac-12 All-Academic Honor Roll twice while playing as wide receiver and kicker on the football team. Graduating in the spring of 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, specializing in product design.

Biola University held its 94th annual Missions Conference, being the largest student-led conference in the world. “Every year since the foundation of this mobilizing movement, Biola’s Missions Conference has sought to educate, equip and inspire students to embrace their role in the completion of the Great Commission,” stated the Missions Conference website. This year, the theme “Unhindered” followed Psalms 26-28. This theme was centered around “a believer’s honest response to a corrupted world.

Biola loses to Chaminade 3-1. November 8, 2023 Biola’s women’s volleyball (14-8) took the #15 Chaminade Silverswords (25-3) to four sets on Wednesday night. The first match went Silversword’s way from the opening point as they jumped out to an early 14-2 lead. Biola tried to even things out but could not overcome the large deficit and dropped the set 14-25. Chaminade’s senior outside hitter Greta Corti who finished with 18 kills on the night was key and set the aggressive tone early.

Biola loses exhibition match 50-56. November 8, 2023 Biola women’s basketball played Pepperdine University in their first of two exhibition games, fighting until the very end but losing a close one 50-56. The first quarter opened to a 7-0 lead by the Eagles with four free throws and a 3-pointer from sophomore forward Jessa Thurman. Thurman would hit a second 3-pointer, which put her team up 13-5.

DAY ONE, SESSION ONEChase gymnasium was filled with people as many gathered to learn and worship about grace and truth at Biola’s annual Torrey Conference. This year’s theme covered topics on race, sex and doubt centered around John 1:14. The first session opened with worship by Davy Flowers and Trenton Bell with Worship Initiative.
