HOUSEHOLDS across Scotland were hit with the biggest council tax hike in decades back in April. Families living in all 32 local authorities were hammered with increases of up to 15.6 per cent. Typical bills soared by 9.6 per cent, and millions also faced a double whammy when water charges increased by 9.9 per cent. SNP-run Falkirk Council imposed the biggest hike of 15.61 per cent; however, many other councils also introduced double-digit rises.
