(WSMV) - People in Germantown said the city needs to do more to protect people who walk in the neighborhood after a 77-year-old woman was killed while in a crosswalk over the weekend. Katya Hoffman and Allie Gilbert cross 3rd Avenue several times a week. “There is a lot of traffic constantly because Germantown is very popular, so we are always making sure that we are checking to make sure we don’t get hit when we cross,” Gilbert said.

Conner Smith, 24, struck and killed a 77-year-old woman in a crosswalk. Smith is a country singer who was on last weekend’s CMA Fest lineup. The victim was identified as Dorothy “Dot” Dobbins, a retired attorney and a resident of the Germantown neighborhood in Nashville.
