Thus far, I have avoided visiting the “new” Okku. I have nothing against Okku, per se, more that there is a considerable redundancy of Asian food (fusion, sushi, teppanyaki, etc.) in this town, and I’m just kind of…over it? (Not so over it that I won’t visit places, more that I’m so ready for someone to do something original or, at a minimum, more authentic). Hence, since the launch, I haven’t made it to the venue, and Okku wasn’t all that high on my list.

While I’m optimistic about the upcoming ceasefire (set to go into effect on Sunday — even with hundreds killed since the announcement), Palestine remains occupied, and other countries continue to be affected. 🍉It was an easy, balanced week (no complaints). There was a bit of man-flu at home, but Mr. Wright has recovered (although he may have shared it with me, ugh). On Tuesday, for the record, when motivated, I can get ready and be at a restaurant in just over an hour if invited.

As a former Angeleno, my heart breaks for the city. Here’s a great resource if you want to help. Last weekend was spent at J1 (my first visit) to ChouChou. While I’m not sure how the location will do with the density of nearly identical beach clubs, I will say it was a perfect place for an al fresco lunch in January. The brunch starts later (2 PM) and offers eggs as a starting course (no complaints). Topped up with some Louis-Perrier, it was a very pleasurable afternoon.
