    The Refugio County All-Stars advanced to the championship round of the Texas East District 29 Softball 8-10 Tournament in Three Rivers with a 6-1 win over Beeville on June 19. Refugio County will face the winner of the June 20 elimination game between Beeville and Rockport-Fulton in the championship round. Refugio County, which was 3-0 in the double-elimination tournament, will play on June 21 and, if necessary, on June 22.

    Two Goliad High School coaches recently received top regional honors from the Texas High Schools Coaches Association. Stacy Zamzow was named Region 7 Boys Track and Field Head Coach of the Year, while Lee Price, also of Goliad, was honored as Region 7 Assistant Coach of the Year in softball. Statewide, dozens of coaches across multiple regions and classifications from Classes 1A to 6A were recognized for their work in softball and track, both at the head and assistant coaching levels.

    The Kenedy Lions will be making their first-ever appearance at the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 7on7 State Tournament on June 26-27 in College Station. Kenedy advanced to the state tournament by beating Louise 26-0, Yorktown 34-0, George West 20-15, and Rice Consolidated 28-27 in a qualifying tournament in Ganado. The Lions will compete in Division 3 of the tournament.
