Kenedy’s Annabelle Briones took fourth place in the long jump at the Region IV-2A meet at Texas A&M-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium on Friday. Briones had a mark of 16-10.25. She also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.44 seconds, after running a 26.43 in prelims. In the 100-meter dash, Briones placed 10th in prelims with a 12.82. On Saturday, the Leopards' 4x100 relay team placed 11th in prelims with a time of 52.93 seconds, missing the finals.

Rockport-Fulton’s Adyson Burton won the 400-meter dash and Logann Wood secured a state berth in the 100 hurdles at the Region IV-4A track and field meet on Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Javelina Stadium. Burton took the 400 in 59.04 seconds, narrowly holding off Navarro’s Emersen Cochran (59.35) to claim the title and a spot at the state meet in Austin on May 1, where the top two finishers in each event advanced.

Goliad clinched the Region IV-3A boys’ track and field team title with a win in the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday at Seguin’s Matador Stadium. The Tigers’ 4x400 relay team of Cord Zamzow, Hunter Cano, Reese Mangum, and Gabriel Aguilar won in 3:21.98 to outpace Universal City Randolph’s 3:27.48. Goliad finished with 70 points to edge past Hallettsville, which had 66. The top two finishers in each event secured berths to the state meet in Austin on May 1.

Pettus’ Hayleigh Cruz placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Region IV-2A track and field meet Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Javelina Stadium. Cruz ran a time of 16.90. For the Pettus boys, Gabriel Hernandez secured fourth place in the triple jump with a mark of 43-3.50.
