While some predicted doom again and again for this building, and it certainly hasn't been all blue skies for the construction of One Bloor West, nevertheless the crane holding high overhead of this tower easily pushes past the 300 metre mark. Don't miss you chance to listen to and engage with Earl Mark of Core Architects as he discusses the challenges designing this unique building, along with panelists covering Pinnacle One Yonge and Forma, via our free webinar on Tuesday, May 13 at 1 PM.

Balconies flow across the faces of the Festival Towers in Vaughan in this skyward-aimed image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Full Metal Junkie. The buildings appear to be something of a lab experiment, with a simple syrup of sorts poured over them, now adhering to the more rigid box within... even if the balconies' hidden structural slabs are actually just as solid as the rest of the towers.

There's quite the gulf between this spot on the east side of Downtown Toronto and the areas of Canada more widely associated with St Lawrence, but in this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor mburrrrr, dawn breaks over the neighbourhood indirectly named for the Catholic saint whose feast day it was when Jacques Cartier arrived in the Gulf in 1535.

A long-stalled construction site at 327 Royal York Road next to Mimico GO station may move forward again, as a new proposal to the City of Toronto aims to facilitate a new development on the site with a pair of skyscraping towers. Submitted by KingSett Capital (operating as 2402871 Ontario Inc.), the plans call for towers of 51 and 55 storeys, designed by BDP Quadrangle, in place of the previous plan from the defunct former owner.

There aren't too many abandoned construction sites in Toronto, but one worksite beside Mimico GO station has become the urban equivalent of a quarry pond in the countryside after losing its third developer. VanDyk Properties picked the site up in 2017 from defunct developer Stanton Renaissance, who in turn had picked it up from Terrasan, but VanDyk never got their 2019 resubmission underway before they too collapsed, owing millions to creditors.

A couple of days ago @rlbamericas released their latest #cranecount, which for no good reason, some people take seriously. It only reports on a handful of cities in NA, ignores many others with lots of activity, and now only includes a small area of Toronto. Totally useless data.
