(FOX Carolina) - During an Earth Day celebration at Table Rock State Park, officials with the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism (SCPRT) and Duke Energy announced big plans for some of the most popular state parks. Officials spoke about recent grants totaling over $120,000. These funds will support recovery efforts and improvements, like accessibility to the nature trails. It’s a project that’s been two years in the making.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - With high egg prices at grocery stores, a poultry expert from Clemson University says many people are getting their own chickens. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the daily national average price for a dozen large eggs is around $5.90. This is a significant decline from the record high of $8.17 in March 2025. The fluctuation in prices is due to the ongoing avian flu, or commonly known as the bird flu outbreak.

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is delaying a widening project along I-85 in Greenville and Spartanburg counties. SCDOT rolled out a plan to widen the interstate from exit 40 to exit 69 as part of their 10-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The idea is to add a fourth lane in both directions. Officials say they will also evaluate bridge overpasses and mainline bridges for replacement.

ANDERSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Home Depot Foundation partnered with local non-profits, Anderson Lights of Hope and Vets Helping Vets, to give back to an Upstate man. U.S. Coast Guard veteran, Dennis Lavold, 82, was offered a helping hand Tuesday, as volunteers worked on his home. The projects he couldn’t get to are now becoming a reality. “Well, my age has a little bit to do with it, because there are some things I can’t do that I used to do,” explained Lavold.
