Dan EvansDan EvansLast Thursday night, I found myself at NVC for Grad Night - the mega event put on for all of Napa County's seniors - dealing blackjack around midnight to rotating phalanxes of giddy teenagers. My feet were tired, my voice a bit raw, but buoyed by the raw energy of the newly minted graduates. The adults in the room, sans the police officers and official staff, wore neon green safety vests, while us dealer types were also outfitted with green eyeshades.

Dan EvansDan EvansIf you happened to be driving past our office last week, you might have seen the lights on later than usual. You might have noticed a few clusters of people gathered around the newsroom entrance or overheard snippets of conversation about housing, traffic or BottleRock. No, we weren't putting the paper to bed - we were welcoming in the community. The gathering was casual but heartfelt. Some folks stopped by to say thanks for a story we'd published or a reporter they admired.
