    DULUTH, Minn. — Duluth’s new Safe Bay location for homeless to sleep in their vehicles overnight has been shut down — at least temporarily — after only being operational for about a week. City and CHUM officials told FOX 21 on Sunday that an attorney for nearby neighbors of the Safe Bay location in the church’s back parking lot has appealed the planning commission’s approval of the permit to temporarily operate the Safe Bay at the church.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. — A Grand Rapids man is accused of animal torture and improper burial in Itasca County. 42-year-old Jacob Landeslag is facing 20 charges. According to the criminal complaint, 92 of his 140 goats dies while on a property in Bovey. Officers found three piles of dead goats on the property. The surviving goats were dehydrated and malnourished, according to the complaint. They have since been moved to a different farm to heal.

    DULUTH, Minn. — A jury has found a Michigan man guilty of killing a Duluth woman after bar close in downtown Duluth last year. And Tuesday night the victim’s family has released a video statement remembering their loved one. But first, Tuesday’s guilty verdict. 35-year-old Darrius Plummer of Canton Michigan is convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Chantel Moose. Moose was stabbed in the neck outside Spurs bar on 1st Street. Plummer and Moose were known to each other.

    MINNESOTA — The five-year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder is coming later this month on May 25-th. and with that, concerns president Donald Trump might issue his convicted killer — Derek Chauvin — a pardon. Trump has not given any public indication he would pardon the former Minneapolis police officer. But rumors persist. Chauvin is currently in federal prison serving a 20-year sentence for abusing his power as a police officer. He’s serving that concurrently with his state murder conviction.

    DULUTH, Minn. — A Blue Mass was held today in Duluth honoring first responders and providing a blessing of safety and well-being. The Blue Mass was held and organized by Cathedral of Our Lady of Rosary and Stella Maris Academy. Firefighters, EMTS, and police officers from across the regions attended the mass. Duluth Police Deputy Chief Ryan Morris sees the Blue Mass as a showing of community support to officers who sometimes can feel beaten down by negativity.
