Marshall Islands-flagged Federal Nagara is currently navigating the St. Clair River and is expected to arrive at Duluth’s Aerial Lift Bridge around 3:00 p.m. on Sunday according to the Duluth Seaway Port Authority.

Duluth Fire Marshal Lisa Consie is seeking the public’s help in providing information to help identify anyone who may be responsible for a suspicious fire that occurred the evening of February 16, 2025 at 2226 W. First Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The structure’s roof and upper structure collapsed and the structure was deemed a total loss.

The Cloquet Area Fire District (CAFD) responded to the report of a home that was struck by lightning on Washington Avenue Thursday afternoon, April 17. CAFD reports that upon arrival to the scene, they conducted a throughout investigation and discovered “significant” damage to both the interior and exterior of the home. The home was also filled with smoke. The home was ventilated to clear the smoke and the home’s residents, including two dogs, were safely evacuated.

Minnesota ranked first in the nation for youth voter turnout in the 2024 Presidential Election according to newly released data from an independent research group at Tufts University. The data shows that 62% of Minnesotans aged 18 to 29 turned out to vote, exceeding the national average of 47%. “Minnesotans have a long tradition of voting in sky-high numbers and I’m thrilled to see that tradition continue in the next generation,” said Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon.

The Duluth Police Department reports that a man was transported to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle on the 200 block of S Boundary Ave in Proctor at approximately 10:20 a.m. The extent of the man’s injuries are unknown at this time. The driver had no signs of impairment, but, according to the DPD, initial investigation indicates that the driver of the vehicle and the injured individual were having a verbal argument.

The Duluth Police Department, Hermantown Police Department, and Lake Superior Violent Offender Task Force seized 137 grams of suspected meth, 40 grams of cocaine, and $1,980 after executing a search warrant on a 63-year-old man on Tuesday morning, April 15. The individual was detained during a traffic stop away from his residence.
