1. IntroductionMicrobial corrosion (MIC), which arises from the biological activities of microorganisms in biofilms that attach to material surfaces, constitutes a major type of corrosion damage to metal substrates. Data show that in 2014, the economic impact of corrosion in China surpassed 2 trillion yuan, representing approximately 3.34% of the GDP [1,2]. Importantly, corrosion caused by microbes accounts for approximately 20% of the overall corrosion.
