DULUTH — High winds produced big waves on Lake Superior Tuesday. The National Weather Service in Duluth reported that at about 11:30 a.m., wind gusts around the Twin Ports reached 62 mph on the Blatnik Bridge, 58 mph at Sky Harbor Airport and 46 mph on Garfield Avenue in Duluth. If you ventured outside Tuesday and wore a hat, chances are you had to keep it from flying off.

DULUTH — It might not be the name of the event, but it was a regular puzzle-palooza as hundreds of people inside the Lake Superior Ballroom at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center spent Saturday looking for edges and interjambs during the annual Duluth Jigsaw Puzzle Contest. “Five, four, three, two, one ... puzzle,” exclaimed Stacey DeRoche, event coordinator for the contest, into a microphone to kick off a round of competition.
