Once misty drizzle departs New Jersey early Thursday, we will catch a brief period of drier, brighter, warmer weather. Rain chances will ramp up again late Friday. And yes, unfortunately, wet and stormy weather will potentially affect part of this weekend. Rainfall totals on Wednesday varied greatly from one end of the state to the other. While far northern New Jersey picked up about two tenths of an inch of rain, South Jersey exceeded two inches.

The start of June brings thoughts of summer, heat, and beach weather to the minds of many New Jerseyans. However, June 1st also marks an important day on the meteorological calendar. It is the first day of the Atlantic hurricane season, running through November 30th.

It really was not that long ago that we were incredibly concerned about drought impacts and high wildfire danger. Then spring came along. And we have been waterlogged ever since. Yet another storm system will produce yet another rainy day across New Jersey on Wednesday. It is not necessarily a total washout — South Jersey will be considerably wetter than North Jersey. But it is another day to grab the rain gear and get ready to splash in puddles.
