Barnegat Light’s Wildflowers boutique and gallery owner Cricket Luker, advocate for the arts and animal rights, has a new idea for a community art project that would celebrate local historic properties and promote preservation efforts, by having artists paint portraits of old buildings to be installed seasonally somewhere in the town. The concept is “Preserving Our History Through Art,” Luker explained.

Top of Class: For its Student Show, the Pine Shores Art Association held an awards reception on Sunday, April 6 at its Manahawkin gallery on Stafford Avenue, drawing community members in celebration of local talent. First place went to Phil Meara, a student of Tom Rutledge, for his watercolor painting “Wings,” which depicts a kitesurfer opening his kite on the beach.

After retiring from a 30-year career in construction, Jerry and his wife, Wendy, started their food venture in 2022, he explained. When their sons finished college, they relocated from Verona to Beach Haven West.
