BURNSVILLE, Minn. — A large contingent of family members, friends and police colleagues will travel to the nation's capital starting this weekend to honor and celebrate the lives of fallen Burnsville police officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge. Ruge and Elmstrand responded to a domestic call on February 18, 2024, and were fatally shot while team members were negotiating with an armed suspect.

ST PAUL, Minn. — The weekend is almost upon us, and with a fabulous summer-like forecast over the next few days it is likely there will be bonfires and perhaps outdoor burns taking place. If you are planning a fire, the Minnesota DNR is reminding residents how quickly a fire can grow from small to big, and how dangerous or deadly they can be. DNR officials say 475 wildfires have been reported across Minnesota since April 1, threatening property, buildings and human lives.
