COLUMBIA, S.C. — Severe thunderstorms have begun moving through the Midlands, the first wave of two days of possible hazardous weather in South Carolina. Because of the threat, both Thursday and Friday have been designated as News 19 Weather Impact Alert days . A weather system moving in from the west has brought in more moisture and energy, making the atmosphere unstable. That's led to pop up thunderstorms forming in the region. Several severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued.
