The South Carolina Gamecocks stepped up to the mic on day one. Shane Beamer’s first two seasons in Columbia ended with the Gamecocks going to bowl games. After falling one win short of being bowl-eligible in 2023, the Gamecocks have a lot to prove in 2024.

That means, for the third year in a row, Barnwell is sending their all-stars to Louisiana for the Dixie Softball World Series. The Barnwell Ponytails were the national runners-up in 2022 and finished in third place in 2023. In an effort to raise money for their trip, the team is going around Barnwell selling watermelons and team hats.
