The court ruled last Wednesday that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the act “refer to a biological woman and biological sex” which means that transgender women with a gender recognition certificate (GRC) can be excluded from single-sex spaces if “proportionate”.

The union said the DDRB recommendations should come before the start of the next financial year, to allow the government to make its pay awards, but it has been delayed in previous years.
