22 April 2025By Daniel Pye and Sarah LowdenThe Department of Health and Social Care has said that it expects the NHS to “work quickly” in implementing new gender policies following the Supreme Court interpretation of the Equality Act. The court ruled last Wednesday that the terms ‘woman’ and ‘sex’ in the act “refer to a biological woman and biological sex” which means that transgender women with a gender recognition certificate (GRC) can be excluded from single-sex spaces if “proportionate”.

The union said the DDRB recommendations should come before the start of the next financial year, to allow the government to make its pay awards, but it has been delayed in previous years.

Heading to the high court today to cover the @AnaesUnited case against the @gmcuk over the regulation of PAs and AAs. The family of Emily Chesterton, who died after being misdiagnosed by a PA she thought was a GP, will be in attendance

Finally watched #Adolescence there were a few technical points that don't fully reflect reality (the police hand a case to the CPS rather than charging themselves) but the devastation cases like this cause to families and communities was uncomfortably real
