The Olympics were first held in Lake Placid in 1932 and again in 1980. Those old enough will remember the underdog U.S. hockey team besting the powerful Soviet team and eventually winning the gold after beating Finland.

A long-anticipated ban on using TikTok in the U.S. could come to pass beginning Sunday (Jan. 19) unless the Supreme Court makes a ruling against the ban. Based on last week's oral arguments in the court, that seems unlikely. U.S. lawmakers have long accused TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, of being linked to the Chinese government. They have demanded that TikTok and ByteDance divest in the U.S. or face a ban. TikTok has more than 170 million users in the U.S., according to The Associated Press.

The star of the celestial show was the total solar eclipse on April 8. The path of totality — where the moon completely covers the sun — slowly traced its way across the U.S. from Texas to Maine.
