ALBANY — A coastal storm expected to hit upstate and much of the Northeast is bringing with it the potential for flooding around the Capital Region and Hudson Valley. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from 9 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday for much of the Albany area and the counties in the Hudson Valley. Flood watches are issued when meteorologists believe the conditions are ripe for flooding.

ALBANY — An appeals court cut 10 years off the sentence of an Albany man, Jhajuan Sabb, in the May 21, 2021, drive-by shooting death of grocery store clerk Sharaf Addailam and the wounding of another man. Acting Albany County Judge Roger McDonough sentenced Sabb to 25 years for his guilty plea to first-degree manslaughter and 10 years for his plea to first-degree assault, ordering him to serve the terms consecutively.

ALBANY —A man who served time in the notorious killing of a University at Albany student was sentenced to prison Monday for selling stolen items online, according to the Albany County District Attorney's office. Abdul Malik Mustahin, who went by the name King Modest when he acted as a lookout during the deadly 2008 robbery of UAlbany student Richard Bailey, was sentenced to two to four years Monday by state Supreme Court Justice Thomas Marcelle.
