ALBANY — A coastal storm expected to hit upstate and much of the Northeast is bringing with it the potential for flooding around the Capital Region and Hudson Valley. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from 9 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday for much of the Albany area and the counties in the Hudson Valley. Flood watches are issued when meteorologists believe the conditions are ripe for flooding.

ALBANY — After days of soaking rain, parts of eastern upstate face the potential for flooding and the arrival of thunderstorms on Tuesday. The National Weather Service says there is a marginal risk that severe thunderstorms could hit the Capital Region and Hudson Valley by afternoon. The storms threaten to bring damaging winds and large hail. Rainfall could be heavy.

COLONIE — A part-time town justice resigned amid a state investigation into complaints that he used his law firm staff and another attorney to file cases for his private clients in Town Court, was hostile when representing landlords as an attorney in other courts, enlisted prosecutors in his court to get someone an internship in the Albany County District Attorney’s office, and urged voters to change their party enrollments.

ALBANY — An appeals court cut 10 years off the sentence of an Albany man, Jhajuan Sabb, in the May 21, 2021, drive-by shooting death of grocery store clerk Sharaf Addailam and the wounding of another man. Acting Albany County Judge Roger McDonough sentenced Sabb to 25 years for his guilty plea to first-degree manslaughter and 10 years for his plea to first-degree assault, ordering him to serve the terms consecutively.
